Diabetes
- A systemic medial condition in which the sugar levels in the body are uncontrolled causing blood vessels in the eye to leak. This causes vision to be blocked to a certain degree due to the leaking of fluid in the eye. This can lead to permanent loss of vision or a retinal detachment if not monitored or treated.
- A simple dilated eye exam can detect this early and save vision
Glaucoma
- Usually a genetic condition in which optic nerve damage occurs due to eye pressure being too high. There are other causes such as Narrow Angles and Pigment Dispersion. If Glaucoma is untreated it will lead to blindness.
- Glaucoma can be detected during a comprehensive dilated eye exam
